On Saturday, NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center opened its gates to the public for LaunchFest. LaunchFest celebrated Goddard’s upcoming mission launches and showcased the work done at the Center. The Landsat Project took part in LaunchFest. Members of the Landsat Project provided information about Landsat’s long history and about the Landsat Data Continuity Mission’s future launch. Visitors were also encouraged to join in two Landsat activities. The first activity challenged visitors to identify differences in Earth images taken at two different moments in time. The second activity invited visitors into a Landsat “pixel” to help people understand Landsat’s spatial resolution. Goddard estimates that nearly 13,000 people visited the Center for LaunchFest..
