Landsat Used to Assess Pesticide Exposure

Landsat Used to Assess Pesticide Exposure

Source: USGS Landsat Mission
In a recent International Journal of Health Geographics article, Susan Maxwell and colleagues have used Landsat data to assess pesticide exposure in California. Looking at time-series imagery of agricultural areas in the Fresno vicinity, the researchers found that the use of Landsat data can improve pesticide exposure assessments by identifying crop conditions when pesticides were applied. The free Landsat archive makes such data-intensive time-series studies possible.
