A Landsat Timeline
The small white arrow in the Landsat 7 arrow indicates the collection of data without the Scan Line Corrector. The Landsat 5 arrow stops when Landsat 5 operators suspended data downlinks. If USGS engineers can find a way to continue downlinks this spring, the graphic will be updated. However, as USGS director Marcia McNutt told Eos, the Landsat 5 operators have “brought Landsat 5 back from death's doorstep several times over the last 27 years [but] another miracle recovery is becoming less likely.”
