Dubai is one of the emirates that makes up the United Arab Emirates. The city of Dubai is home to more than 1.2 million people today and it is one of the world's most rapidly growing cities. Not long ago, Dubai was considered a small fishing and pearl diving village, but its rapid expansion has turned Dubai into a modern metropolis (as evidenced from the images above).
The gap-filled Landsat 7 image was acquired on October 11, 2006. It is a false-color composite of ETM+ bands 4, 3, 2. Dubai can be found on Landsat WRS-2 Path 160 Rows 42 and 43. The Landsat 1 image was acquired on January 22, 1973. It is a false-color composite of MSS bands 6, 5, 4.
