Sam Goward Receives 2006 USGS John Wesley Powell Award

Sam N. Goward, the former Landsat
7 Science Team Leader and a Professor of Geography at the University
of Maryland, received the 2006 USGS John Wesley
Powell Award today at USGS Headquarters in Reston, Virginia.
Goward was awarded for his significant role
in increasing public awareness of the USGS mission, helping
the Geography Discipline prepare for the next generation of Earth-observing
satellites, educating students in the science of remote sensing,
and aiding the USGS in their effort to improve Landsat data
products.
