Landsat at 2008 AGU Fall Meeting

2008 AGU Fall Meeting
Dec. 15–19 • At the annual fall AGU meeting in San Francisco, CA, Landsat was featured in 90 different scientific talks and posters. The wide scope of these presentations indicates the large array of applications that benefit from Landsat data. Subject matter included: forest disturbance and regrowth, evapotranspiration, carbon estimates, snow and glacier assessments (10 papers), fire (7 papers), Landsat/MODIS data fusion (12 papers), and more.

Among those papers, were seven first-authored by Landsat Science Team members: Randy Wynn (Modeling Pine Plantation NEP Using Landsat), Tom Loveland (Opportunities and Challenges for Extending and Applying the Global Landsat Record), Warren Cohen (TimeSync: Synching Human and Automated Interpretation of Landsat Time-Series to Support a New Paradigm in Land Cover Change Detection), Bob Bindschadler (The Landsat Image Mosaic of Antarctica), Rama Nemani (Synergistic Use of MODIS and Landsat Data for Mapping Global Carbon Fluxes at 30 m), Feng Gao (How Does Forest Disturbance Impact Albedo as Revealed from Historical Landsat and MODIS), and Curtis Woodcock (Carbon Budget and Land Use Change in Georgia).
