Brazil's Space Agency Passes a Million Satellite Images Distributed for Free

Oct. 2 • Brazil's Space Agency, National Institute for Space Research (INPE), passed a million images distributed for free on Sept. 29, 2009. INPE began to offer free CBERS-2 data in June 2008 and later added free Landsat data.

Brazil has been receiving Landsat data since 1973 from its Cuiabá ground station. Of the million freely INPE-distributed satellite images, there were 716,889 CBERS images and 283,123 Landsat images.
