The Landsat Image Mosaic of Antarctica (LIMA), the first-ever natural-color high-resolution satellite view of the Antarctic continent was being released today. LIMA will enable everyone to see Antarctica as it appears in real life.Participants at the LIMA media briefing were Ray Byrnes, liaison for satellite missions at the U.S. Geological Survey in Reston, Va.; Scott Borg, director of NSF’s division of Antarctic sciences; and Robert Bindschadler, chief scientist of the Hydrospheric and Biospheric Sciences Laboratory at NASA Goddard. Gretchen Cook-Anderson of NASA public affairs moderated the panel. The press event was held at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.
