Last week Space News reported that the U.S. Government is searching for ways to lower the price tag associated with designing, building, and launching successor Landsat satellites. This comes after President Obama’s $48M budget request to begin Landsat 9 and 10 development was reduced by Congress to $2M for program development. As part of this effort, the U.S. Geological Survey has been asked to explore cost-saving alternatives for obtaining Landsat data.
