NASA/GSFC hosted an informational meeting for prospective offerors on December 11, 2006 at The Inn and Conference Center at the University of Maryland University College. Due to the fact that International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)-sensitive information was presented at this meeting, attendance was limited to U.S. Persons. Time was set aside for discussions with the prime contractors and their subcontractors. There was not separate discussions for subcontractors. Appointments for discussions were scheduled in advance with the LDCM Contracting Officer Patricia Dombrowski. This meeting was primarily for OLI instrument offerors, their primary subcontractors, and current and potential RSDO spacecraft offerers.

The Amazon is in trouble. Researchers found that, between 2000 and 2022, the Brazilian Amazon lost about 10% of its natural non-forest vegetation.
