Landsat Featured Prominently in Recent National Academies Report

In November, the National Academies released a report titled: “Earth Observations from Space: The First 50 Years of Scientific Achievements.” A committee formed by the National Research Council analyzed the ways in which space-based observations of Earth have advanced science and research. The committee concluded that there have been many socially beneficial outcomes of satellite Earth-observation—such as improved predictability of natural disasters—and that the nation needs, “a renewed commitment to Earth observations from space.”
