Landsat 7 ETM+ Sensor Remarkably Stable

Landsat 7 ETM+ Sensor Remarkably Stable

A recent journal publication shows that over the last 12 years the Landsat 7 ETM+ sensor performance “has been remarkably stable.” The paper, written by calibration scientists from NASA, USGS, South Dakota State University, and the University of Arizona, was published in IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing this May. It concludes: “Landsat-7 ETM+ has been remarkably well behaved and stable radiometrically over its 12 years on orbit. Although the failure of its SLC has been unfortunate; the remaining Earth coverage data continue to be valid and valuable.”
