Authors of a paper published in Science on Nov. 17—Matt Hansen (UMD), Rebecca Moore (Google), Tom Loveland (USGS), Jeff Masek (NASA), Paulina Arroyo (Moore Foundation)—spoke about their research analyzing global forest change using Landsat data during a Google+ Hangout on Monday, Nov. 19.
On December 4, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and NASA will host an event in which leadership from both agencies will provide details about how user needs will be assessed to help inform NASA’s Sustainable Land Imaging Program.
USGS has posted all of the presentations given during the Landsat Science Team Meeting that took place in Sioux Falls, South Dakota Oct. 29–31, 2013. The majority of the radiometric calibration changes indicated in the October 25, 2013 calibration notice have been deferred to early-2014, to coincide with a software update for the Landsat Product Generation System (LPGS). USGS scientists are continuing their critical research characterizing the hidden dangers faced after large wildfires.
